Journalist’s reflection

Hello guys! My name is Ana and this week I have the Historian-Journalist role. 

The person with this role is ordered to tell you how our week has been going and how have we done the different tasks sent by our teacher, Linda; as well as recommend you some different blogs of our peers or any interesting application that could be useful for you as well as for us.

The first day was on Tuesday 23th of February, 2021. We had an online lesson, in which we were ordered to create 6 sentences related to the following concepts: “learning”, “educating” and “teaching”. We had fifteen minutes to complete this first part of the task, and then we had to create 6 photos, each one related to each sentence. To be honest, we were a little bit surprised of the dynamic of the class: we couldn’t be able to complete the task on time. As it was one of our first lessons of this subject, we didn’t know how to organise ourselves in a good way, but don’t worry, we will return stronger and more prepared! Finally, we needed to comment the photos our peers had created, and after finishing the lesson, we decided to meet each other to finish our work.

To continue, I am going to talk about our Thursday lesson. Our teacher talked us about the Internet and the new technologies, and their application to education. She explained us that we can not aim for being a teacher like our school teachers were; we have to become teachers adapted to life nowadays, investigating day after day what are our students interests, to know how to teach them.

Translator's reflection

Hey there!👋 It’s Alicia and this week I am the one assigned with the translator's role.

This means I’m in charge of defining the 5 most important concepts that we have studied during the development of our project. Which are the following ones:

Padlet: padlet is an online virtual board. It is a digital platform that allows you to create collaborative walls, bringing the opportunity to construct spaces where multimedia contents (video,audios, photos or documents) can be submitted.

Creativity: this term refers to the capacity or ability of the human being to invent or create new things; such as, physical objects, ideas, representations or simply fantasies. 

Educating is a complex action aimed to enhance in other people the characteristics we consider proper of the human race. Some of the characteristics are respect, goodness, freedom, responsibility and empathy.

Learning is the process by which we acquire certain knowledge, abilities and competences. It is a wide concept because there is intellectual learning but also physical learning.

Teaching refers to the action by which you help another person to understand the things they don’t know.

It has been a pleasure to develop this role and I am very exciting to accomplish our next task. Hope you learned with the definitions. See ya!😘

Curator's reflection

Hi, everyone! I'm Ana Isabel and during this week I've played the role of the curator.

For this task, we have used some different applications that are easy to find in “Play store” or “Apple Store”.

We tried to be as imaginative as possible and, to do so, we have used Picsart, Photogrid and VSCO. This apps allowed us to do collages, edit pictures and add some things to the pictures that are not ours.

Using “Picsart”, we could make collages, edit and add some emojis or pictures to the principal one, while “Photogrid” is more focused on collages and montages of pictures. “VSCO” is perfect for the edition. We could put effects, improve the pictures regulating the contrast of the light, the brightness or the sharpness/definition of the images. These three apps provide really good results!

Besides, to get inspired, we search on “Pinterest” some pictures to use them and put our creativity on them or to try to recreate them, and finally we used two Pinterest’s pictures. This app is like a visual discovery tool, which is very useful to take ideas and innovate.

Finally, to expose the pictures we create to our teacher and classmates we used the tool "Padlet", which is an interactive collaboration whiteboard. By using it we could create like a collaborative mural to present multimedia resources, like photos.

In order to have a compilation of all the tools used throughout this activity, we have decided to make use of the “Microsoft Word” platform in order to do a mind map. In each space are showed the logos to be easily found among other features.

Facilitator's reflection.

Hello! I’m Paula and this first week I’ve been the facilitator.

My role is to make easier the group configuration and running. We decided to assign the roles randomly with a raffle website. If you have read our journalist’s post, you may know that the week didn’t start quite well for us. We didn’t manage our time properly during Tuesday online lesson with Linda and we couldn’t present our padlet to our classmates. However, after assigning the roles when the online session finished, we made a videocall through Zoom and we were able to upload the six pictures to our padlet and to our Instagram account as well.

We haven’t had any conflicts this week, but we’ve had some doubts as we are not familiar with this way of working. To solve those doubts, I sent Linda an email on Thursday night to ask her about the running of the blog. However, I was able to ask her about the blog during Friday’s online session, so there was no need to have an answer to the email, as I had all our doubts solved during the videoconference.

Regarding the way we have worked, we did the picture task all together and each one uploaded one of them on Instagram. Even though we have respected our roles in the group, we have helped each other when it was needed to get through this week and to become familiar with this subject.

Analyst's reflection

Hi everyone! I´m Daniela and this first week I´m playing the role of Analyst😬. 

So, let´s go with the team’s final reflection and the analysis of the task 1!

With this task we have learnt what is teaching, what is learning and what is education as well as to manage our time and to cooperate as a group. We had to do this activity during the online lesson, but we could not finish it so our teacher Linda told us that we must learn to distribute our time and be effective.  

As this has been the first week and the first task, it took us time to understand the task and the way of working, as it was new as well. The good point is that it encouraged us to be effective and to give our best.💪

The best moment of the week was when we finally understood the task and started to work together on it at the end of the lesson. It was such a creative task that we had a great time creating the images.

The worse moment was our first lesson in which we were supposed to do the activity. It was a bit shocking as we didn´t expect to start so strong. We didn´t do very well but we are sure that we´ll improve.

The best part of the activity was to search 2 inspirational phrases or slogans for learning, 2 for teaching and 2 for education. We could learn what was each one of the concepts and what is more, we came up with some phrases.

The worse part was thinking how we could create six images that represented the phrases. However, once we started to collect some images the ideas came up fluently.

As a group, we need to conserve our effort, our willingness to work and the way in which we have worked together. All of us gave our ideas and listened to each other, deciding which were the best ones. There was good vibes and we helped each other. What we need to improve is work more quickly as I have said before and try not to stress so much.

This content is directly related to our degree because if we are going to be teachers, the first thing we must bear in mind is what is learning, teaching and education.

Star's Reflection

Hey there! This is Elena and in today’s task I have been assigned with the role of

the star.

This week we have worked with 6 photos on a padlet. The teacher told us to search or create phrases with the words "education", "learning" and "teaching". After conducting the search, we had to create and / or search for images that were related to the chosen phrases. These images, we had to insert them in padlet, but without the phrase, so that our classmates could write briefly, what those photos transmitted to them. Afterwards, we had to read the sentence to see if the colleagues were correct with their assumptions, or if it was far from what it really was.

Our experience with the activity on the first day was a bit catastrophic because we didn't know how the padlet worked. But when we learned, we sent the link to our colleagues so that they could add whatever came to mind with the images.

Finally, here you can see the images we chose, the phrase. In addition to a small reflection of what the image and the phrase transmit to us, as a whole.

we do it every day of our lives, no matter how minimal the teaching.

During our learning period, there is nothing negative to highlight. Whenever we think about our past, we miss school and what it was like to learn together. Undoubtedly, learning is much more than learning to read, it is living that entire process.

Like any other area in life, if you don't see something or don't try it, you can't comment on it. Well, the same with education. Whoever has not taught does not know what it is to teach, because he has not experienced it.

When you have knowledge about something, you are deeper into ignorance. But when you learn something, you see everything more clearly. You see that there are solutions to problems that you didn't see before.

Education, for us, is synonymous with evolution. Without education, there would be no change, there would be no improvements, especially in society. Thanks to education, we have developed ideas and innovations that have changed the world.

"Learning is our tool for ruling the world."

Like education, learning is linked to it. We are learning every day, it is something continuous. And thanks to that, we can evolve as people, and see possible changes that we can include in our cultures, religions, ideals, etc. To be able to improve society little by little.
